And I think there's a lesson that many politicians can learn from that.
What's curious to me is how vehement the backlash against them has been. People act as if the uneducated don't have the right to support someone that their intellectual 'betters' despise. And that's a bit disturbing.
Trump has tapped into an ugly underside of the US, it seems. But pooh-poohing or dismissing the uneducated opinion in my opinion is stupid and ultimately doesn't seem to have any positive effect.
As Trump has shone the spotlight on the ugly xenophobic side of American nature, so has he shone the spotlight on the ugly elitism of the educated class.
