Fifteen Czech traits

  1.  Above all, Czechs are practical.
  2. Czechs are cautious around strangers. But when you've been introduced, they are quite warm.
  3. Czechs are always looking for bargains.
  4. Related to the bargain seeking behaviour, they are careful about major purchases--they don't impulse buy. I chose the car I wanted in less than five minutes. My girlfriend spent weeks reading consumer reports, getting advice from people who knew more than she did about cars.
  5. Czechs will often try to fix something themselves before they ask someone else to fix it or beefore they replace it.
  6. Czechs have a passive-agressive streak.
  7. About 20 percent of the drivers take a lot of dangerous unnecessary risks and display incredible impatience on the road.
  8. Czechs like to party, especially when they are young, but most of them rarely get out of control.
  9. Czechs very rarely resort to violence when angry, at least compared to Anglo cultures. VERY rarely.
  10. Czechs are a bit afraid of people who are ethnically different, particularly South Asian(read Muslim) or African cultures. (I probably wouldn't have written this a year ago, but I think there's definitely a bit of hysteria in the current refugee crisis.)
  11. Czechs respect education, especially in practical arts and sciences.
  12. Czechs are cynical.
  13. Czechs naturally distrust authority and authoritative structures.
  14. Czechs have little patience for politically correct politics.
  15. I think that Czechs reject utopian political ideals(e.g.,  the USSR, the EU, modern American/Western European leftist identity politics and the like) because of the neo-Marxist language they are usually couched in.

  1. Czechs consult their "personal networks" when putting out "feelers" to find physicians, dentists, good places to find their bargains etc.
