ASOIAF: What do you think of Jorah Mormont

I'm afraid that Jorah Mormont wouldn't fare very well in the modern world of dating politics. I mean, just because he protects Daenerys claims to be in love with her, if she doesn't want him and tells him to back off he needs to back off.
Plus she's a 15 year old girl while he's a 45 year old hairy bald dude who probably smells like he's been dipped in a vat of bear sweat, old Pabst, and garlic.
I honestly give him a pass on the age thing for several reasons:
  1. Daenerys a fifteen year old, but she's pretty much earned her honorary adult badge since she's
    1. been married
    2. borne a child
    3. ordered the whole sale slaughter of an entire social class
    4. crucified 163 randomly-selected masters
    5. leads a rag-tag nation of ex-slaves numbering in the tens of thousands.
    6. Has pretty much started World War One in Essos single-handedly.
With all that in mind, I figure she's fair game, and is anyway in that world, which just looks at these things differently(as indeed our society did not too long ago.)
But he doesn't want a woman to love. He wants a naive sex-machine he can control.
And the manipulation is creepy. Its' clear at least from the death of Viserys that Jorah's main goal has nothing really to do with Dany conquering Westeros. His main goal vis-a-vis the Mother of Dragons is to isolate her and put her in a permanent state of fear and distrust so that she ONLY trusts him.
But it's complicated because, in the end, he's only giving her advice; and more often than not his advice is not unwise: she's made a lot of enemies and a lot of people would give their jeweled nose for one of those dragons.
And then there's the question of honor.
Jorah basically has none. I find it hard to respect a man whose so pussy-whipped that he ruins his house, reputation, and sells humans into slavery just to retain the questionable affections of a platinum-haired spoiled princess(I mean, Lynesse Hightower, his second wife.) And Lynesse apparently didn't respect him that well either, seeing as she whored off with the first rich guy she could.
Why should Daenerys respect him?
I don't think he's a flat-out bad guy. He's got some good qualities.
  • He's a bad-ass warrior.
  • Moreover, he is one of the least xenophobic Westerosi alive.
  • There is NO ONE BETTER when it comes to giving tours of various Essosi sites. Dude is like a walking, talking, ass-kicking Lonely Planet book. He'd make a helluva tour guide.
But he needs to grow a backbone when it comes to women.
But he doesn't like 'women.' He likes young girls he can control.
